Cookie policy
This policy explains what cookies are, which ones this site uses, why we use them, and how you can change your mind at any time.
01
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit. It lets the site remember things between pages and visits, such as what is in your basket or whether you have already made a cookie choice. Similar technologies, like local storage, work in much the same way and are covered by this policy too.
02
Who is setting cookies here?
The only party that writes anything to your browser on this site is Blue Windmill, the studio at 3-11-6 Kuramae, Taito City, Tokyo 111-0051, Japan. The site does not set cookies of its own. What it stores is a single entry in your browser’s local storage, which works much like a cookie and is therefore covered here.
03
What do you use cookies for?
The one stored entry exists to remember that you answered the cookie banner, and what you answered. Without it the banner would reappear on every page and every visit. It is not used to follow you from site to site, and we do not sell or share it.
04
Which cookies are strictly necessary?
The consent entry is the only item in this group. Its name starts with wh_consent_ followed by this site’s address, and it holds four yes-or-no flags (essential, analytics, preferences and marketing) plus the date and time of your decision. Because the site cannot remember your choice without it, it is treated as essential and is not subject to consent.
05
Which cookies help the site run better?
There are none today. The Preference switch in the settings dialog is there for the day we add something like a saved view of the shelf, and at the moment it controls nothing. If that changes, this section will name what is stored before it is switched on.
06
Which cookies measure how the site is used?
We do not run analytics on this site. No visitor counter, session recorder or heat map loads when you browse the shelf or read about the studio. If we ever add simple page counts, they will stay off until you allow them in the settings dialog, and this policy will be updated first.
07
Do you use advertising cookies?
No. There are no advertising networks, social-media buttons or retargeting pixels on this site, so there is nothing for the Marketing switch to turn off. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before any such item is placed.
08
How long do cookies stay on my device?
Your recorded choice stays in your browser until you clear the site’s data or change your answer in the settings dialog. It has no automatic expiry, but it carries the date and time of your decision so you can see when it was made. Nothing else the site stores lasts longer than your visit.
09
Does anything else load from other companies?
Yes: the typefaces. The pages ask Google’s font servers for the Roboto Slab and IBM Plex Sans files, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when each page loads, in the same way any server receives them when it sends you a file. We do not add anything to that request, and we do not use Google’s fonts for tracking. Everything else on the site, including the photographs of the studio and the shelf, comes from our own files.
10
Do you use cookies for orders or the basket?
No. Orders, class bookings and commission briefs are arranged by telephone, by email or at the studio in Kuramae, so there is no basket, login or checkout session to keep alive. That is why this policy is shorter than the ones you may see on large online shops.
11
How can I see or delete what the site has stored?
Open your browser’s developer tools, look under Application or Storage, then Local Storage, and select this site; you will see the single consent entry. Deleting it, or clearing site data for blue-windmill.com in your browser settings, removes your choice, and the banner will ask again on your next visit.
12
How do I change my choices?
You can change your mind whenever you like using the control, which is also available from the footer of every page. Updating your choice there takes effect right away for the non-essential categories.
13
Can I control cookies in my browser?
Yes. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies through its settings. Doing so is your right, but please note that blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site, such as the basket or checkout, from working as expected.
14
Will this policy change?
We may update this cookie policy when the cookies we use change or when the law requires it. The current version always lives on this page, and the date below shows when it last changed. For more on how we handle personal information, see our privacy notice.
